Several months ago I watched in horror as my toddler ATE a chunk out of one of my lipsticks. It was a cheap, drugstore lipstick but my concern wasn’t money- it was articles I had read about the potentially hormone disrupting ingredients in women’s cosmetics that came to mind. Initially, I brushed it off and kept using all my usual favorites. It hit me as I watched her scour through my vanity that if I don’t want her using it, then I don’t need to be using it. To my dismay, many of the more natural products are quite pricey and it simply was not practical to buy an entirely new makeup collection at once. I purchased a few RMS Beauty items (which I love) but I lost my momentum.
Fast-foward to this month when I hear about Honest Beauty. The price points were reasonable, the return policy looked very flexible and overall, I’ve been happy with my past purchases of other Honest products so I gave it a shot. My goal was to replace my 5 top items – lotion, deodorant, foundation, lipstick, and blush.
I was particularly surprised by how much I loved the foundation and blush. I also purchased the mascara, eye liner and several lip crayons. The mascara is a mascara/primer duo, which helps the performance but I still find it rubs off a bit on my eye lids. The lip crayons are great payoff but I do wish they had a deeper nude in the selection.
Other items that made the cut –
Primal Pit Paste – in Lavender (try the small samples- lots of scents to choose from)
RMS Un Coverup Concealer in 11 (spiritbeautylounge.com for samples)
Honest Everything Cream Foundation – in linen or sand
Honest Creme Blush – in truly thrilling
One Love Organics – Gardenia + Tea Antioxidant Body Serum
TheBlissfulBody – Miracle Beauty Oil (TYSM Jaclyn Hill!)
Oh and I cannot forget – Method Detergent in fresh clover. My husband’s eczema cleared up within TWO DAYS of switching. *Mind Blown*
